Keep the Guru in mind, and sorrow cannot reach even your dreams.

Guru Arjan's Kaanraa opens in a warmer, steadier voice. The rahau names the Guru the treasure of mercy who breaks pain and gives peace. The short couplets follow: remembering the Name steadies the mind and lifts millions in an instant; keeping the Guru in mind is a shelter sorrow cannot reach even in dreams; the heart tastes the sweet essence of the One; and the closing face made radiant here and hereafter.
