Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I worship and adore You, my own Master.
Standing up and sitting down, sleeping and waking, with every breath, every breath, every breath, I remember the One.
The One can be kept in mind in every posture of an ordinary day.
You can keep the One close with every breath, all day and all night.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. AaraaDha-o tujheh su-aamee apnay: I adore You, my own Master. Apnay, my very own, is warm and close. Saas saas: breath by breath. Remembering is woven into every part of an ordinary day, the way a favorite song keeps playing softly in your head.
A Question to Sit With
What is something so dear to you that it is with you from morning to night?
