I am such a worm! What karma am I creating? What can I do? I am a fool, a total idiot, but God has saved me.

I am unworthy, heavy as stone, but joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I am carried across to the other side. ||3||

In plain words

What am I? As small as a worm! What good deeds can I do? I am foolish and know so little, and still the One has saved me.

I am full of faults, heavy as a stone, yet joining the true Sangat, I am carried across to the other side.

No one is too small or too stuck to be carried gently across.
The deeper layer

However small or heavy you feel, the One saves you and the Sangat carries you across.

Ki-aa ham kiram means "what am I, a worm?" Ki-aa karam kamaaveh means "what deeds can I do?" Moorakh mugaDh means "foolish and ignorant." This is the honest voice of someone who knows how small they are next to the One.

Avganee-aaray paathar bhaaray means "full of faults, heavy as stones." A stone dropped in a river sinks. Set on a boat, it crosses. Satsangat mil taray taraas means "joining the true Sangat, I am carried across." The Sangat, people gathered together to remember the One, is the boat.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt small, and someone helped carry you through anyway?
