Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My home is filled with joy, delight and happy play.

I sing the Naam, and I keep the Naam in my mind. The Naam holds up my very breath of life.

Keeping the One in mind can fill an ordinary home with quiet joy.
The deeper layer

Singing the Naam and keeping it in mind fills your home with joy, and the Naam holds up your every breath.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Aanad rang binod hamaarai: joy, delight and play fill my home. Naamo gaavan naam Dhi-aavan: singing the Naam, meditating on the Naam. Naam hamaaray paraan aDhaarai: the Naam is the support of my breath of life. The Naam is the living presence of the One, held close the way you hold a tune you love in your head all day.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing that fills your home with a feeling of joy?
