Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My dealings are false and my way of living is a mess. Dizzy on the wine of my feelings, I am burning in the fire of anger.

O Merciful Lord of the World, full of compassion, family to the meek and the poor: Nanak says, please save me. I have come to Your shelter.

However tangled our days feel, mercy meets us the moment we ask.
The deeper layer

When your days feel false and your heart is hot with anger, the Merciful One is family to everyone who asks for shelter.

Anit bi-uhaar achaar biDh heenat: false dealings and a life without order. Mam mad maat kop jaree-aa: drunk on "mine," burning with anger. Karun kirpaal gopaal: compassionate, merciful Lord of the World. Deen banDh: family to the meek and the poor, the ones who feel small and overlooked. UDhar saran paree-aa: lift me out; I have come to Your shelter.

A Question to Sit With

When your day feels tangled, who is a gentle friend you can turn to?
