In plain words

Within your heart, sing the praises of the Lord of the Universe, and love His lotus feet. He is the One who wins every heart, kind to the humble and the poor.

Kind One, please pour Your kindness and care on me.

Nanak says: I ask You for one gift, the Naam.

I have let go of clinging, doubt and all my pride.

The one gift worth asking for is to keep the One in mind.
The deeper layer

Sing of the One inside your heart, ask for the gift of the Naam, and let clinging, doubt and pride go.

Hirdai gobind gaa-ay: sing of the Lord of the Universe within your heart. Charan kamal: lotus feet, a picture of something soft, beautiful and close. Deen da-i-aal: kind to the humble.

Naanak maagai naam daan: Nanak asks for the gift of the Naam. Of all the gifts he could ask for, he asks for this one. Taj moh bharam abhimaan: clinging, doubt and pride are set aside, like putting down heavy bags so your hands are free to receive a gift.

A Question to Sit With

If you could ask for one gift that isn't a thing, what would it be?
