In plain words

I come to the shelter of the feet of my kind Master; I go nowhere else.

It is my Master's own nature to make clean those who have gone wrong. Those who meditate on the One are saved.

When you find the true shelter, you stop looking anywhere else.
The deeper layer

Go to the kind One for shelter; lifting up people who have fallen is the One's own nature.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

Charan saran da-i-aal thaakur: the shelter at the feet of the kind Master. Aan naahee jaa-ay: there is nowhere else I go. Patit paavan birad: it is the One's very nature to lift the fallen and make them clean. UDhratay har Dhi-aa-ay: those who meditate on the One are saved.

Think of a porch light that stays on all night, so anyone coming home in the dark can find the door.

A Question to Sit With

What is a place or a person that feels completely safe to you?
