ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਉ ਅਨਿਕ ਡਾਰਉ ॥
vaar vaara-o anik daara-o.
Countless times, I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice
ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਪਲਕ ਰਾਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh pari-a suhaag palak raat. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Again and again, countless times, I give myself as an offering
for that moment of peace, that night when I was with my Beloved.
One true moment of closeness can be worth more than everything else.
One moment close to the One is worth more than anything.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.
Vaar vaara-o anik daara-o: again and again, countless times, I give myself away. Sukh pari-a suhaag: for the joy of being with my Beloved. Think of the hug when someone you love comes home after a long trip. For that one moment, you would give almost anything.
This is the tender picture of the soul as a bride longing for her love.
