Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O my mind, follow the Guru's teaching and sing the praises of the One with joy.

If my one tongue became hundreds of thousands, millions, I would remember the One millions upon millions of times.

Love for the One is so large that one voice feels too small to sing it.
The deeper layer

Love for the One is so big that one voice feels far too small to sing it.

Man gurmat ras gun gaavaigo: O mind, follow the Guru's teaching and sing the One's goodness with joy. Jihvaa ayk ho-ay lakh kotee: if my one tongue became millions, I would remember the One millions of times.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It comes from overflowing love. Think of a friend who has just heard great news and wants to text everyone at once. There is so much wonder that one voice cannot hold it.

A Question to Sit With

What are you so grateful for that you could thank it a million times?
