Standing up, sitting down, rising up and walking on the path, I meditate.

satgur bachan bachan hai satgur paaDhar mukat janaavaigo. ||5||
The True Guru is the Word, and the Word is the True Guru, who teaches the Path of Liberation. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Standing up, sitting down, getting up, walking on the road, I remember the One.

The True Guru is the Word, and the Word is the True Guru, who shows the path to freedom.

Remembering the One can be woven through every ordinary moment.
The deeper layer

You can remember the One all through the day, whatever you are doing.

Kharay kharo-ay baithat oothat maarag panth Dhi-aavaigo: standing, sitting, getting up, walking down the road, I keep the One in mind. Remembering is woven into every ordinary moment. It is like a favorite song humming in your head while you brush your teeth, pack your bag, and walk to school.

Satgur bachan bachan hai satgur: the True Guru is the Word, and the Word is the True Guru. The Guru and the teaching are one. That Word shows the path to freedom. So remembering becomes a thread through the whole day.

A Question to Sit With

What small daily moment could you fill with a quiet good thought?
