Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Seek the One, your best friend. By great good fortune, the One comes to live with you.

Nanak says: the perfect Guru has shown me the One, and my heart is lovingly tuned to the One.

Look for the One the way you look for your best friend.
The deeper layer

Go looking for the One the way you would look for your best friend.

Sajan means friend, and lorh lahu means go and seek. Vadbhaag is great good fortune. Gur poorai daykhaali-aa: the perfect Guru shows you. Liv laag is attention lovingly fixed, like a radio tuned clearly to one station.

A Question to Sit With

Who is a friend worth going out of your way to look for?
