Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O Lord, no one but You can do all things. You are my hope and the strength of my mind.

You give to the hearts of all beings, my Master. Whatever You give me, I eat and wear.

The same One who holds everything also provides the small daily things you need.
The deeper layer

The One is your hope and your strength, for big things and small.

Samrath means all-able, the One who can do anything. Tayree aas tayraa man taan: You are my hope, and You are my mind's strength.

Then the verse comes down to everyday life. Deh so pahiran khaan — whatever You give, I wear and eat. Breakfast, a warm jacket, shoes for school: each one is received as a gift. Daily life itself is a present from the Giver.

Think of a parent who runs a whole hospital all day and still packs your lunch. The Giver of the whole world also meets the smallest daily needs.

A Question to Sit With

What everyday things are you thankful to have?
