In plain words

People who have turned away from the One stay hungry forever; all day long they cry out, "More, more!"

Caught in the love of Maya, the world's shiny show, they hurry and run and rush about, covering hundreds of thousands of miles.

A heart that chases only things stays hungry; a heart that holds the Name is fed.
The deeper layer

A heart turned away from the One stays hungry, however much it gets.

A saakat is someone who has turned away from the Source. The verse does not call them wicked. It shows them as always unsatisfied. Sad bhookhay: forever hungry.

Dhaavat Dhaa-ay Dhaaveh: they run and run and keep running. They are caught in pareet maa-i-aa, love for the passing, shiny things of the world. They cover lakh kosan, huge distances.

Think of scrolling for hours for something good to watch, and never finding it. The trouble is not the looking. It is looking in the wrong place. The verse is kind here. A hungry heart keeps chasing because it is facing the wrong way.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you thought would make you happy, but the feeling didn't last?
