O my Lord and Master, You are the Saving Grace, the Protector of Your humble servants. You protect them, age after age.

What does it matter, if a demon speaks evil? By doing so, he only gets frustrated. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O One, my Master, You are the protector of Your servants. Age after age, You have kept Your people safe.

What does it matter if a cruel, demon-like person speaks badly of them? Doing it again and again, he only wears himself out and falls away.

Unkind words lose their heat and fall away when you are held by something steady.
The deeper layer

The One protects its people in every age, so cruel words lose their power.

Dait karee bakheelee: a demon-like person speaks evil. Jhar pari-aa: in the end he crumbles and falls away, worn out by his own spite. Jug jug jan rakhi-aa: the One keeps its people safe, age after age. Meanness has no lasting power against a heart in the One's care.

A Question to Sit With

When have you seen mean words simply lose their power?
