I Live By Seeing You

bin milbay naahee santokhaa paykh darsan naanak jeejai. ||2||1||
Unless I meet my Lord, I am not satisfied. Nanak lives, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||2||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Until I meet my Lord, nothing can make me content.

Nanak says: I live by gazing on the blessed sight of You.

Some longings are filled only by meeting, never by a substitute.
The deeper layer

Only meeting the Beloved brings contentment, and seeing the Beloved is life itself.

Bin milbay naahee santokhaa: without meeting, there is no contentment. Paykh darsan ... jeejai: living by the sight (darshan) of the Beloved. Longing is answered by presence; the seeing itself is life.

A Question to Sit With

What sight or moment makes you feel most alive?
