We Receive What You Gladly Give

ਕੇਤੀ ਕੇਤੀ ਮਾਂਗਨਿ ਮਾਗੈ ਭਾਵਨੀਆ ਸੋ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
kaytee kaytee maaNgan maagai bhaavnee-aa so paa-ee-ai. ||1||
So many, so very many, beg for charity at Your Door; they receive only what You are pleased to give. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So many, so very many, come begging at Your door.

Each one receives only what You are pleased to give.

So many ask, and each receives what the Giver is glad to give.
The deeper layer

Many come asking, and each one receives what pleases the Giver.

Kaytee kaytee maangan maagai: so many, so very many, beg. Bhaavnee-aa so paa-ee-ai: each one receives what pleases the Giver. This is Hukam as trust: what arrives is what the flow of existence gladly gives. Contentment rests in the Giver's goodness.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to trust that you will be given what you need?
