The Fearless Lord is All-pervading. Doubt has run away, says Kabir, the Lord's humble slave. ||4||1||

In plain words

The moment a lamp is lit in a dark room, the darkness simply vanishes. It does not argue or fight. It just leaves.

That is how it is when the fearless One fills your awareness. Doubt runs off on its own, and everything is lit from within. So says Kabir, the One's humble servant.

You do not fight the darkness — you light a lamp, and it is already gone.
The deeper layer

You do not have to fight the darkness. You just light a lamp.

Jih mandar deepak pargaasi-aa means when a lamp lights up the temple. The temple here is the heart. The lamp is awareness waking up.

Think of walking into a dark room and flipping on the light. You do not chase the dark out corner by corner. It is simply gone. Doubt, bharam, works the same way. You do not have to battle it. One inner light outshines it, and it leaves on its own.

Nirbha-o means the Fearless One. It is the same word that comes near the start of the Mool Mantar, the opening lines of the Guru Granth Sahib. Kabir signs himself jan daasaa, a humble servant.

A Question to Sit With

What is one small thing that lights up your inner world and chases the gloom away?
