O Saints, drink in this wine forever; it is so difficult to obtain, and it quenches your thirst so easily. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Speak the Name of the One, friends, out loud and glad.

Drink in this rare, precious joy again and again — it is hard to come by, and yet it quiets the deepest thirst so easily.

The joy of remembering the One is rare to find but easy to love once tasted.
The deeper layer

The joy of the One is rare to find, yet easy to love once tasted.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad. Bolhu bha-ee-aa raam kee duhaa-ee: call on the One, brothers and sisters.

Then Kabir talks about wine: peevhu sant sadaa mat durlabh, drink this wine always, so hard to find. The "wine" is the glad, carried-away feeling of remembering the One. It is a warm picture of being swept up in love. It never means real drink. Durlabh means hard to find. Sehjay means easily, naturally.

Think of a best friend who was hard to find. Once you met, being together was easy. Kabir enjoys that happy puzzle: rare to find, yet effortless to love once tasted.

A Question to Sit With

What is a joy that only grows the more you share it?
