In plain words

I give myself completely to people who keep their attention fixed on the One.

Through loving devotion guided by the Guru, you find the True One. Then, easily and naturally, He comes to live in your mind.

Your mind becomes whatever you give your attention to — so give it, with love, to the One.
The deeper layer

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line — the center of the shabad. It says the mind becomes whatever we keep our attention on.

Ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree har saytee chit laavani-aa — I give myself to those who fix their chit, their attention, on the One. The whole shabad is about a stained mind getting clean, and here is the cleaner: where we point our attention. Think of what you scroll past on a screen all day. It starts to fill your thoughts. Point the mind at the surface of things, and it takes on their smudges. Point it at the One, and it takes on the One's clearness.

The path is gur bhagtee — loving devotion guided by the Guru. Not raw effort. Not a clever trick. Just love aimed well. Devotion is attention warmed by love. We do not grind our way to the True One. We come to love the One, and our attention follows our heart.

Then the key word: sehjay, easily, naturally. Sehjay man vasaavani-aa — the One comes to live in the mind with ease. This matters in a shabad about cleaning a dirty mind. We might picture cleaning as a hard scrubbing battle. The pause line gently says no. When we turn our loving attention toward the One, the One settles in on its own — the way sunshine fills a room once you open the curtains.

A Question to Sit With

Where does your attention drift when nothing is forcing it anywhere — and what is that slowly turning you into?
