The true Master becomes real to the ones who turn toward the teaching — and it happens through the **Word**.
Those who drink that in stop being thirsty. Finally full, finally at rest, satisfied by what is most real of all.
This one says everyone is thirsty, and only one drink truly ends the thirst.
After the whole world praising the One, the verse comes back to the quiet door inside. Saachaa saahib gurmukh jaapai — the True Master is known by the gurmukh, the one who faces the Guru's light. Pooray gur kai sabad sinjaapai — He is recognized through the shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru. The wind may repeat the Name and the earth may serve. But for a person to actually know the One, the way is the Word. The Word is the bridge between the One who is everywhere and the single heart that wants to meet Him.
The meeting is described as drinking: jin pee-aa say-ee tariptaasay — those who drink it are satisfied. Tariptaasay means full, thirst finally gone. That is the deep promise here. The restlessness that chases one thing after another, never satisfied, can really come to rest. Not by getting more, but by drinking the one thing that truly fills.
Sachay sach aghaavani-aa — through the Truest of the True, they are filled up. It isn't a little bit full, or full for a while. It is the settled fullness of someone who drank at the real spring and doesn't need to go looking anymore. Think of drinking a fizzy soda on a hot day. You feel thirstier after. Then think of a glass of cool, clean water. Everyone is thirsty, and most people drink from cups that leave them thirstier. The gurmukh drinks from the one well that ends the thirst.
What have you been drinking that leaves you thirstier — and what actually satisfies you?
