The Saving Is His Own Doing, and Complete

ਸਭ ਛਡਾਈ ਖਸਮਿ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭਈ ਠਰੂਰੇ ॥੬॥
sabh chhadaa-ee khasam aap har jap bha-ee tharooray. ||6||
My Lord and Master Himself has saved me completely; I am comforted by meditating on the Lord. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My Master reached out and saved me — completely, all the way — and just keeping the One in mind brings me comfort.

The saving is the One's own doing and complete, not half-done — and remembrance isn't only a means to a future reward but a comfort available right now.
The deeper layer

This verse is full of thanks: the One Himself did the saving, all the way, and remembering Him brings comfort now.

Sabh chhadaa-ee khasam aap — my Khasam, my Master, Himself set me completely free. Two things stand out. First, "Himself" and "completely." The saving is all the One's doing, and it is whole, not half-done. The soul did not save itself, and it was not saved only part of the way.

Second, har jap bha-ee tharooray — remembering the One brings comfort. Remembering is not only a step toward some reward later. It is a comfort right now. Think of hearing a parent's voice on the phone when you are away from home. Just the sound of it helps, right then. The warmth is there for any heart that turns toward the One.

A Question to Sit With

Can keeping something good in mind be a comfort in itself, even before it changes anything?
