Abandon all your entanglements and corruption; sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever.

With palms pressed together, Nanak begs for this blessing; please bless me with Your Name. ||2||1||6||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Set down your tangles and shortcuts, and sing the praises of the One, always.
With hands pressed together, Nanak asks one thing: please, give me Your Name.
Put down the tangles, sing, and ask for the one thing that matters.
The close of the Du-Pada: drop janjaal (entanglements) and just sing. The final gesture is kar jorr — palms pressed together — asking for one gift, the Name. Simple, direct, whole-hearted.
A Question to Sit With
If you could ask for just one gift, what would it be?
