Raag Maale Gaorhaa

The Commentary

This shabad opens Raag Maalee Gauraa. It begins in awe at the boundless One (agam, agaadh, apaar), moves through the honest naming of the inner pulls (desire, anger, greed, attachment) and a cry for shelter, recalls the protection of the boy-devotee Prahlaad, promises that remembrance lifts the fear of birth and death, and closes with the tender image of wearing the Name like a necklace and merging into it.
