The Guru has enshried the Lord, Har, Har, within my heart; I place my head on the Guru's Path. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

O my mind, remember the One, and old mistakes are wiped clean away.

The teacher has settled the One inside my heart, and I lay my head gladly on the teacher's path.

Remember the One, and old mistakes stop weighing you down.
The deeper layer

This one says remembering the One lifts the weight of old mistakes.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It opens the last shabad in this set by Guru Ram Das, the Fourth Guru.

Mayray man har bhaj sabh kilbikh kaat — O my mind, remember the One, and all wrongs are cut away. Kilbikh means wrongs or mistakes.

Think of a heavy school bag you have carried all day. Someone kind lifts it off your shoulders, and you can finally stand up straight.

Then comes mayraa sees keejai gur vaat — I lay my head on the Guru's path. That is a picture of glad trust, like resting your head on the shoulder of someone you trust completely.

A Question to Sit With

What is one old mistake you're ready to set down?
