He plays the flute, and herds the cows;
ਨਾਮੇ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਨਦ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
naamay kaa su-aamee aanad karai. ||4||1||
Naam Dayv's Lord and Master plays happily. ||4||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

He plays the flute and walks the cows home,

and Naam Dayv's Beloved does it all with pure delight.

The One at the heart of everything is playful and full of delight.
The deeper layer

The close is a picture of God at play — flute in hand, herding cows, anand (bliss) in everything He does. The divine is not distant and stern here but playful, tender, near. Namdev's Beloved delights in simple things, and that delight is the unstruck music itself.

A Question to Sit With

What simple thing do you do just for the pure delight of it?
