In the Fear of God, my heart is committed in loving devotion to Him; following the Guru's Teachings, my sleeping mind has awakened.

All my sins have been erased, and I have found peace and tranquility; I have enshrined the Lord within my heart, by great good fortune. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
With wonder and love, my heart gives itself, and following the teaching, my sleeping mind wakes up.
The old weight is wiped away, I've found calm, and I've settled the One inside my heart with great luck.
Reverent wonder can wake a sleeping mind and bring deep calm.
Bhai here is awe/reverence, not fright; it wakes the sut mano — the sleeping mind. "All my sins erased" becomes "the old weight is wiped away." Enshrining the One hirdai (in the heart) is the shabad's steady move inward.
