Empty-Handed, I Turn Back Toward You

ਬਾਬਾ ਮੈ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥
baabaa mai karamheen koorhi-aar.
Father, I am unfortunate, a fraud.

I have not found Your Name; my mind is blind and deluded by doubt. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Father, I come to You with empty hands, and I have not been true.

I have not found Your Naam. My mind wanders blind, lost in doubt.

Admitting you feel lost is already the first step home.
The deeper layer

Saying plainly that you feel lost is the first turning back.

This is the rahao, the refrain the whole song returns to. Karamheen koorhiaar is the voice of someone arriving with nothing to offer and no pretending left. Grace meets the one who admits they cannot do it alone.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you find your way when your thoughts feel tangled?
