The Gurmukh understands, and is pleased with the Word of the Shabad.

Who does he praise or slander?

Know yourself, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe; let your mind be pleased with the Lord, the Master of the Universe. ||13||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The one turned toward the Guru understands, and delights in the Word.
If the One is in everyone, who is there to praise up high or to put down?
Know yourself, hold the One of all in mind, and let your heart rest happy in it.
If the One is in everyone, there's no one to look down on.
Nindaa (running someone down) and ustat (praising up) both lose their footing once the One is seen in all. From judging others, the heart turns to knowing itself (cheenahu aap) and resting happy in the One of the whole universe.
A Question to Sit With
How would you treat people if you saw the One in each of them?
