Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Guru's way is learned from the Guru.

The one who gives their whole heart comes to know it through the Word.

Living close to the Word, they taste a sweetness on their own tongue, the sublime flavor of the One.

The Guru's way is tasted for yourself, on your own tongue.
The deeper layer

The sublime essence (ras) is not described but tasted. Knowing here is direct experience, sweetness on your own tongue, not secondhand report.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you had to experience yourself to understand?
