Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 105
Verse 14 of 16

Whatever Comes, It Will Be Well

ha-umai maaray sabad nivaaray.
Egotism is conquered and subdued by the Shabad.
har kaa naam rakhai ur Dhaaray.
I have enshrined the Name of the Lord within my heart.
aykas bin ha-o hor na jaanaa sehjay ho-ay so ho-ee hay. ||14||
Other than the One Lord, I know nothing at all. Whatever will be, will automatically be. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The living Word quiets the proud me.

I have made a home for the Name inside my heart.

Beyond the One I know nothing else, and whatever comes, it will unfold as it will, and that is enough.

Rest in the One, and whatever comes, it will be well.
The deeper layer

With ha-umai quieted and the Name enshrined, the heart rests in acceptance (sehjay ho-ay so ho-ee). Whatever will be, will be, is not resignation but trust.

A Question to Sit With

When has trusting that things would work out helped you feel calmer?
