Verse 6 of 16

Worship Woven Through Day and Night

aapay maylay mayl milaa-ay.
God Himself unites those united in His Union.
purab likhi-aa so maytnaa na jaa-ay.
Whatever is pre-ordained by destiny, cannot be erased.
an-din bhagat karay din raatee gurmukh sayvaa ho-ee hay. ||6||
Night and day, His devotees worship Him, day and night; one who becomes Gurmukh serves Him. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One gathers home the ones the One has chosen.

What has been written is not rubbed out.

And so, morning and evening, loving hearts turn toward the One, and the one who turns to the Guru gives their whole self.

A loving heart turns toward the One through every hour of the day.
The deeper layer

Devotion here is continuous, woven through day and night. Destiny is not fate to fear but the quiet assurance that the gathering-home is already underway.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good you do a little of every single day?
