Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 106
Verse 15 of 16

O My Mind, Just Turn and See

ha-umai maa-i-aa mail kamaa-i-aa.
Acting in egotism, they are stained with the filth of Maya.
mar mar jameh doojaa bhaa-i-aa.
They die and die again, only to be reborn in the love of duality.
bin satgur sayvay mukat na ho-ee man daykhhu liv laa-ee hay. ||15||
Without serving the True Guru, no one finds liberation. O mind, tune into this, and see. ||15||

In plain words

When the proud me runs the show, everything gets clouded over.

A heart split in two keeps circling, never quite at rest.

Without serving the Guru, no one is set free. O my mind, turn your attention there, and see.

Sometimes all it takes is turning a little to finally see.
The deeper layer

The self-oriented heart is coaxed, gently. Sometimes the whole change begins with a small turn of attention: turn just a little, and see.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you might see differently if you just turned your attention a little?
