Verse 14 of 16

When the Fog of Doubt Finally Lifts

anal vaa-o bharam bhulaa-ee.
Fire and wind lead him into delusions of doubt.
maa-i-aa mohi suDh na kaa-ee.
In love and attachment to Maya, he has no understanding at all.
manmukh anDhay kichhoo na soojhai gurmat naam pargaasee hay. ||14||
The blind, self-willed manmukh sees nothing; through the Guru's Teachings, the Naam is gloriously revealed. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Restlessness and stirred-up feelings can wrap the mind in a fog of doubt.

Lost in the shine of things, it cannot quite see.

But the Guru's teaching lights it up, and the Naam shines out, clear at last.

The Guru's teaching lifts the fog of doubt so you can see clearly.
The deeper layer

Fire and wind stand for the restless passions that fog the mind with doubt. For the one who cannot see, the Guru's teaching lights the way, and the Naam shines clear.

A Question to Sit With

What helps clear away a foggy, confused feeling in your mind?
