Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 108
Verse 10 of 16

Held by Hands Larger Than Our Own

naa ko-ee karay na karnai jogaa.
No one does anything; no one is able to do anything.
aapay karahi karaaveh so ho-igaa.
That alone happens, which the Lord Himself does, and causes to be done.
aapay bakhas laihi sukh paa-ay sad hee naam nivaasee hay. ||10||
Those whom He Himself forgives, find peace; they dwell forever in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

On our own, none of us moves the world.

Only what the One does gets done, in the great gentle unfolding.

Those the One forgives find peace, and rest, always, in the Name.

We are all held by hands larger than our own.
The deeper layer

Hukam again, as comfort: we are all held by hands larger than our own. Forgiveness and peace flow from the same source.

A Question to Sit With

When did knowing you did not have to do everything alone help you?
