Even the Great Powers Move Within the One

barahmaa bisan mahays veechaaree.
I have considered Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
tarai gun baDhak mukat niraaree.
They are bound by the three qualities - the three gunas; they are far away from liberation.
gurmukh gi-aan ayko hai jaataa an-din naam raveejai hay. ||13||
The Gurmukh knows the spiritual wisdom of the One Lord. Night and day, he chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||13||

In plain words

I have looked long at the great cosmic powers, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.

Even they move within the three great strands that weave the world, the making, keeping, and changing of things.

The one who follows the Guru knows the One behind them all, and keeps the Naam in mind, day and night.

Even the greatest powers move within the One that holds them all.
The deeper layer

Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, the three great powers of the old stories of how the world works, move within the three strands (trai gun) that weave the world. Freedom (mukat) lies beyond the strands, and the One is deeper still.

A Question to Sit With

What is something so big it seems to hold even the biggest things inside it?
