Verse 2 of 16

The Wealth That Never Runs Out

sachaa sa-udaa sach vaapaaraa.
True is his merchandise, and true is his trade.
na tithai bharam na doojaa pasaaraa.
There is no doubt within him, and no expanse of duality.
He has earned the true wealth, which is never exhausted. How few are those who contemplate this, and understand. ||2||

In plain words

There is a kind of treasure that never empties, no matter how much you spend of it — the treasure of what is real.

When you carry it, doubt and the feeling of being split in two fade away.

Few people stop to notice this wealth, but it is here for anyone who looks.

The truest wealth is the kind that never runs out.
The deeper layer

Sachaa sa-udaa — true merchandise. The metaphor of trade runs through this shabad: the lasting wealth is sach, what endures, and unlike money it is kaday tot na aavai — never exhausted. Where it is held, bharam (doubt) and doojaa (the sense of a second, separate reality) dissolve.

A Question to Sit With

What is something valuable to you that only grows when you share it?
