gurmukh saachaa sabad pachhaataa.
The Gurmukh realizes the True Word of the Shabad.
naa tis kutamb naa tis maataa.
He has no family, and he has no mother.
ayko ayk ravi-aa sabh antar sabhnaa jee-aa kaa aaDhaaree hay. ||13||
The One and Only Lord is pervading and permeating deep within the nucleus of all. He is the Support of all beings. ||13||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The one who wakes to the true Word touches something older than any family, deeper than any home.
The very same One lives inside every single being.
That One is the support holding up all of life.
The same One lives inside every living thing.
Naa tis kutamb naa tis maataa — the divine has no family, no mother: it is beyond all kinship, the ground under every relationship. Ayko ayk ravi-aa sabh antar — one and the same, threaded through every being. The One is not partial to any lineage.
A Question to Sit With
If the same life is in everyone, how might you treat a stranger?
