simrit saastar bahut bisthaaraa. maa-i-aa moh pasri-aa paasaaraa.
The great volumes of the Simritees and the Shaastras only extend the extension of attachment to Maya.
moorakh parheh sabad na boojheh gurmukh virlai jaataa hay. ||15||
The fools read them, but do not understand the Word of the Shabad. How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand. ||15||

There are great books full of learning, and they are worth honoring.
But we can read every page and still not feel the truth inside us.
Reading is one thing; knowing in the heart is another — and that quiet knowing is rare and precious.
Reading about something is not the same as knowing it in your heart.
Simrit saastar bahut bisthaaraa — the Simritees and Shaastras are vast, and learning can spread out wide without reaching the heart. Parheh sabad na boojheh: a person can read every page and still miss the Word. The gap between reading and living is one every reader knows. Gurmukh virlai jaataa — the rare one turned toward the Guru comes to know.
A Question to Sit With
What is something you know in your heart, not just from a book?
