ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
aapay kartaa karay karaa-ay.
The Creator Himself acts, and causes all to act.
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
sachee banee sach drirh-aa-ay.
Through the True Word of His Bani, Truth is implanted deep within.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੯॥
naanak naam milai vadi-aa-ee jug jug ayko jaataa hay. ||16||9||
O Nanak, through the Naam, one is blessed with glorious greatness, and throughout the ages, the One Lord is known. ||16||9||

Through the true Word, what is true is planted deep inside.
Nanak says: holding the Naam brings a quiet greatness, and through every age the one Oneness is known.
One life acts through everything, in every age.
Aapay kartaa karay karaa-ay — the One both acts and moves all others to act: a vision of a single life flowing through everything. The closing jug jug ayko jaataa — the same One known in every age — is this shabad's recurring refrain of continuity.
