kirat na ko-ee maytanhaaraa.
No one can erase the record of one's actions.
gur kai sabday mokh du-aaraa.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one finds the door of salvation.
poorab likhi-aa so fal paa-i-aa jin aap maar pachhaataa hay. ||7||
One who conquers self-conceit and recognizes the Lord, obtains the fruits of his pre-destined rewards. ||7||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
What we do leaves its mark; that is simply how things work.
Yet the Guru's Word is a door that always stands open, ready to free us.
The one who quiets the loud me inside receives what was always meant for them.
The door to freedom is always open, whatever came before.
Kirat na ko-ee maytanhaaraa — no one erases the record of their actions (karma). But gur kai sabday mokh du-aaraa — the Word is the door of freedom. The turning point is aap maar, quieting the loud self — ego treated as something to soothe, not condemn.
