Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 113
Verse 12 of 16

Carefree in the Flow

sayvak sayveh man hukam apaaraa.
The servant serves, and obeys the Command of the Infinite Lord.
manmukh hukam na jaaneh saaraa.
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the value of the Lord's Command.
hukmay mannay hukmay vadi-aa-ee hukmay vayparvaahaa hay. ||12||
By the Hukam of the Lord's Command, one is exalted; by His Hukam, one is glorified; by His Hukam, one becomes carefree. ||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The willing heart moves with the flow of the endless One.

When we fight that flow, we miss how precious it is.

But moving with it, we are lifted, honored, and set wonderfully carefree.

Moving with the flow of life sets the heart carefree.
The deeper layer

Hukmay vayparvaahaa — by the hukam (the flow of existence) one becomes carefree. The servant moves with the way life moves; aligning with it brings vadi-aa-ee and a light, unburdened heart.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that feels easier when you stop fighting it?
