ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gurmukh saaNt sadaa sukh paa-ay.
The Gurmukh obtains eternal peace and tranqulity.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gurmukh hirdai naam vasaa-ay.
The Gurmukh enshrines the Naam within his heart.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
gurmukh hovai so naam boojhai kaatay durmat faahaa hay. ||12||
One who becomes Gurmukh recognizes the Naam, and the noose of evil-mindedness is snapped. ||12||

The awakened heart finds a lasting, settled peace.
It keeps the Name tucked inside.
Knowing the Name, the tight knot of muddled thinking simply comes undone.
Clear knowing quietly undoes the knot of confusion.
Kaatay durmat faahaa — the noose of durmat (muddled, mean thinking) is cut. Recognizing the Name loosens confused thinking on its own.
