Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 114
Verse 16 of 16

Blossoming in the Name

gun kaa daataa sachaa so-ee.
The True Lord is the Giver of virtue.
gurmukh virlaa boojhai ko-ee.
How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand this.
naanak jan naam salaahay bigsai so naam bayparvaahaa hay. ||16||2||11||
Servant Nanak praises the Naam; he blossoms forth in the ecstasy of the Name of the self-sufficient Lord. ||16||2||11||

In plain words

The true One is the Giver of every good quality.

Rare is the heart that turns to the Guru and understands this.

Nanak says: the one who praises the Naam blossoms open, glad in the One who needs nothing.

Praising the Name opens a heart like a flower.
The deeper layer

Bigsai so naam bayparvaahaa — one blossoms in the Name of the self-sufficient One. Bigsai is the same joyful blossoming as vigaas — the heart opening like a flower. Servant Nanak signs off not in fear but in bloom.

A Question to Sit With

What makes your heart feel like it is opening up?
