ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਆ ॥
anDhayraa chaanan aapay kee-aa.
He Himself created darkness and light.
ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥
ayko vartai avar na bee-aa.
He alone is pervasive; there is no other at all.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
gur parsaadee aap pachhaanai kamal bigsai buDh taahaa hay. ||3||
One who realizes his own self - by Guru's Grace, the lotus of his mind blossoms forth. ||3||

Both the dark and the light come from the same One. There is no other hand behind either.
By the Guru's grace, when you see who you are, your mind opens like a flower turning to the sun.
When you know yourself, your mind opens like a flower to the light.
Night and day, shadow and brightness, come from one source. Self-realization is the blossoming, the vigaas, of a mind that finally knows itself.
