Verse 14 of 16

The Golden Body, Wed to the Word

kanchan dayhee sabad bhataaro.
The body becomes golden, with the Word of the Shabad as its spouse.
an-din bhog bhogay har si-o pi-aaro.
Night and day, enjoy the enjoyments, and be in love with the Lord.
mehlaa andar gair mahal paa-ay bhaanaa bujh samaahaa hay. ||14||
Deep within the mansion of the self, one finds the Lord, who transcends this mansion. Realizing His Will, we merge in Him. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When the Word becomes the heart's true companion, even the ordinary body shines like gold.

Then daily life is a kind of joy, and deep in the quiet room of the self you meet the One who is nearer than near.

When the Word is your companion, ordinary life starts to shine.
The deeper layer

In contrast with the mind married to doubt, the Shabad as companion turns the body to gold. The mansion of the self holds the One who also transcends it.

A Question to Sit With

What everyday thing feels golden to you when you slow down and notice it?
