Free While Still Alive

jeevan mukat gur sabad kamaa-ay.
One who lives the Word of the Guru's Shabad becomes Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive.
har si-o sad hee rahai samaa-ay.
He remains forever immersed in the Lord.
gur kirpaa tay milai vadi-aa-ee ha-umai rog na taahaa hay. ||9||
By Guru's Grace, one is blessed with glorious greatness; he is not afflicted by the disease of egotism. ||9||

In plain words

You do not have to wait for some far-off day to be free. You can live free right now, here in this life.

Living the Guru's Word, your heart stays soaked in the One, and the fever of ego cannot take hold.

You can be free while fully alive, starting now.
The deeper layer

Jeevan mukat, freedom while alive, comes from living the Guru's Word. Ego is named a disease to heal, not a crime to punish.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to carry less worry about yourself?
