Emotional attachment to Maya has expanded throughout its expanse.

Without the Word of the Shabad, the body is reduced to a pile of ashes; in the end, dust mingles with dust. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The body is like a strong little fortress, a home for you to live in for a while.
Cared for with the Word inside it, that home is precious; loved only for its walls, it is just dust, so it is the life within that makes it shine.
It is the life within the body, not the walls, that makes it shine.
The body is a fortress, and clinging to Maya spreads all through it. The Word within gives the body its meaning; without it, the body is a pile of ash, dust returning to dust.
