In plain words

Loving devotion is a pure and beautiful thing, unlike anything else.

Turning the Word over in the heart washes the mind and body clean, and the One, out of mercy, is the very one who stirs that love in us.

Even the love we offer the One is first stirred in us by the One.
The deeper layer

Loving devotion is pure and unlike anything else. And even that love is a gift from the One.

Nirmal bhagat hai niraalee: pure devotion is one of a kind. Bhagat here means loving devotion. Man tan dhoveh sabad veechaaree: thinking deeply on the Shabad, the Guru's Word, washes mind and body clean.

The one who stays rang raataa, colored in love day and night, is lifted by the One's mercy. Here is the key point. Even our love for the One is given by the One. It is not a prize we win for being good. Think of a candle lit from another candle. The flame you carry came from someone else first.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good in you that someone else helped grow?
