Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 119
Verse 5 of 16

Pure Is the One Who Cools His Anger

so soochaa je karoDh nivaaray.
He alone is pure, who eradicates anger.
sabday boojhai aap savaaray.
He realizes the Shabad, and reforms himself.
aapay karay karaa-ay kartaa aapay man vasaa-idaa. ||5||
The Creator Himself acts, and inspires all to act; He Himself abides in the mind. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The one who cools their anger becomes clean and clear inside.

Understanding the Word, they reshape their own heart, while the Maker who moves all things quietly settles in their mind.

Cooling your anger is one of the surest ways to grow clear inside.
The deeper layer

Purity is linked to overcoming anger. Self-reform comes through the Shabad, and divine agency indwells the reshaped heart.

A Question to Sit With

What is a calm thing you can do when anger rises up?
