Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When the heart falls in love with the One and rests on the Guru's Word, it settles.
A deep, easy calm spreads through it, the kind that does not need to be forced.
The restless hunger and thirst for more and more grows quiet at last.
Peace is not getting everything you want; it is your wanting growing quiet.
The dhan (soul-bride) is any loving heart; her ease is sahj, effortless equilibrium. When love rests on the shabad, the endless trisnaa (craving thirst) is stilled. Contentment is not getting everything you want but no longer being ruled by wanting.
A Question to Sit With
What helps the always-wanting-more feeling in you settle down?
